From Montparnasse to Île Seguin. From Past to Future through Two Parisian Artistic Neighbourhoods

Communication stems an investigation that aims to review the factors that developed the artistic dynamics of the historic Montparnasse: places of communication and entertainment, activity of groups and individuals, places of residence, collecting, dissemination and marketing, etc.; as well as studying their development and analyze how such factors, that forged the success of that artistic neighborhood, are imported to the present and are intended to be introduced in the project of the "Island of all the Arts" –the so-called "Montparnasse of the 21th century"– on the East side of the integral project of renovation of what historically was the former headquarters of the Renault factory in Île Seguin; an urban-architectural proposal by Jean Nouvel that has generated a large controversy, favoring revisions and modifications to the initial approach.
