Abstract

This article, dedicated to Paris 40s and 50s decades, studies in detail the artistic and cultural background that was developing. The Parisian metropolis in a period in wich, because of the war and its effects, the magnificient capital of art remained in silent. . This estudy emphasizes as since 1945, there was great activity and a powerful controversial cli mate associated with the atmosphere of national reconstruction and to the imperative of maintaining Paris as artistic center of the world. Important artistic contributions will be developed on this rich and fertile backround as carried ont by the painter G érard Schneider me of the main lyrical abstraction figure who played an unusual role in the peculiar relations between French and American abstractions. Schneider abstraction generated during the studied period has been reevaluated by the current look at the par with Paris that has favoured it.
