García Doménech, Sergio. Reflexiones urbanas sobre el espacio público de Alicante. Una interpretación de la ciudad y sus escenarios. Alicante: Publicaciones de la Universidad de Alicante, 2013. The book analyses the evolution of public space in Alicante from the Spanish democratic transition to the present day, treating the city as an urban laboratory whose conclusions can be extrapolated to other Spanish cities of comparable scale. Structured around fifty interdisciplinary reflections that combine historical, sociological, political, and aesthetic perspectives, the text balances academic rigour with writing accessible to the non-specialist reader. The reviewer positively assesses the methodological soundness—grounded in fieldwork, municipal archives, and press archives—and highlights the book as an essential reference for understanding the Spanish urban debate from the developmentalist era to the collapse of the property bubble.
