Pilar Mogollón Cano-Cortés, Praxis de la restauración monumental durante el desarrollismo en Extremadura (1959-1975), Cáceres, Editorial Universidad de Extremadura (Colección Extremadura Artística), 2017. The book analyses, through four chapters focused on specific case studies from the region of Extremadura, the criteria and interests that shaped the management and material intervention on cultural heritage during the developmentalist phase of Francoism, a period marked by doctrinal isolation from European currents and strong state control over restoration practice. The case studies cover the monastery of Guadalupe, the historic centre of Cáceres, the alcazaba of Badajoz, and the relocation of the Roman ruins of Talavera la Vieja prior to the construction of the Valdecañas reservoir. The reviewer regards the work as rigorous, thoroughly documented, and clearly written, highlighting its potential to stimulate comparative studies on a broader national scale.
