At the end of the 19th century, the Cantabrian town of Comillas went through a vertiginous transformation led by an illustrious group of crafstmen and architects who brought the artistic flowering of the Renaixença to the Cantabrian shores. They were called there by the López family, who had been ennobled by king Alphonse XII and whose huge fortune laid its foundations in Cuba. In that context, the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner was commission ed by the second Marquis of Comillas and a distinguished comillana family two fu nerary works: the reform of the parish cemetery and the construction of the Pantheon Piélago.Downloads
