VV.AA., coord. by Luis Palop Fernández. De Palacio a Casa de los Arqueólogos. Pasado y futuro del Palacio Arzobispal de Alcalá de Henares. Madrid: Comunidad de Madrid – Museo Arqueológico Regional, 2019. This catalogue-book, which accompanies an exhibition at the Museo Arqueológico Regional de Alcalá, traces the history of the former Archbishop's Palace of Alcalá de Henares from its medieval origins in 1129 to its tragic destruction in the fire of 1939, including its Renaissance Plateresque splendour. The work is structured in three sections — History and Architecture, Archaeology, and Restorations and Interventions — in which archaeologists, architects, historians, and 3D technology experts document the lost heritage and prospects for rehabilitating the building as the future Casa de los Arqueólogos. The reviewer commends the interdisciplinary and exhaustive character of the publication, highlighting its contribution to settling a historical debt with one of the most important monuments of the Renaissance legacy of Alcalá de Henares, a UNESCO World Heritage city.
