In 1920, Manuel Azaña wrote a series of articles about Madrid in La Pluma, a magazine he had founded together with a close friend who would become his brother-in-law nine years later, Cipriano Rivas Cherif. In the first of those articles, he made an observation that we all know perfectly well and that since then — ninety-two years ago — has not ceased to ruffle feathers among not a few Madrileños.Downloads
