Gold leaf and field for decorated wooden frames. Symbiosis of vice regal, industrial and cultural manufacturing pro-cesses of work in Mexico

Abstract

Industrial processes have contributed for society to improve its quality of life. On the contrary, industrial memory and the characteristics of production processes have been forgotten on various occasions, especially when it comes to valuing the industrial field as intangible cultural heritage. For this reason, obtaining an identification and valorization methodology, based on objects of study, becomes fundamental in the recovery of these processes. As an example, the painting factory in the city of Monte Escobedo, Mexico, has unique and particular aspects that can be identified as industrial heritage, but also as part of the intangible legacy that the workers projected and developed during their participation in the creation of the product (frames and paintings), such particulars are: the development of a work culture in the region with local characteristics, the creation of luxury or exhibition accessories such as the field and the painting finish of the frame based on gold and silver leaf with aspects of an ancient object.
